“I cannot speak highly enough about Pangea Connect and their team. I have been in the space of contributing to the continent in many ways, sometimes I admit blindfold. Having Pangea Connect to simplify the process and validate the quality and promote a new modern way to contribute is uplifting. I cannot wait for the next steps of Pangea,” says Muna, 45, a resident of Belgium originating from Zimbabwe.
Muna is one among the diaspora who have gratefully welcomed Pangea Connect as a one-stop-shop for all matters investing back home. Having already pledged to invest in Ai Care, one of the startups on the platform, he cites having been impressed by the technology in it and the impact Ai Care is creating in the traffic environment. He is already considering investing in two more startups.
Rukiyya, originally Rwandese/Kenyan but now living in the Netherlands, particularly likes the fact that on Pangea connect, all due diligence has already been conducted on the startups and the community platform offers her a chance to talk to the startups and also other investors. She is grateful for the many questions asked on the platform because she gets to learn so much about finances.
“I have always wanted to get more financially literate and support Africa but I didn’t know how to go about it. So far, my experience with Pangea Connect has been everything I have been looking for. And knowing it’s built by diaspora for diaspora helps tremendously. I also like the idea of crowdfunding because you do it with others in the space,” she sums up her experience.
As for Rukiya, she is interested in Agriculture, which explains why she is already investing in GrowAgric, a startup focused on helping farmers scale to meet buyers’ demands while in the most profitable way. In her words, “I felt that this is a startup where I can bring both money and knowledge too.”
Many of these investors want to see more startups and Pangea Connect is keen on having more of them, but also maintaining the standards of investor-worthiness, especially focusing on impact and potential for financial growth. The feedback so far is encouraging and every next effort is worth the while.
